Headlight Differences

FOMOCO De-contenting at work

I am not sure what a good price is, but there is an auto body parts place online that seems to have a lot of good stuff. If the lamps are the same as a normal Taurus, this link will take you to the page with assemblies for 96-97 and 98-99 Taurus.

What is the difference between the 96-98 and 89-99 lights? I thought they were all the same.

hoping to learn something new!

The later lights are darker inside and do not have the scale for L & R alignment. I think they also don't even have L & R alignment, only up and down.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but there is also a difference in the parking lamp too, correct?

My 97 is a diffuser type, where as 98-99 (?) I think are clear?

The 98-99s have a much coarser diffuser pattern.

I have been buffing out my lens with plastic polish regularly but after 60,000 miles the have stone pits & scratches I can't remove. At $208 per headlight unit The scratches can stay but at $93 buck each you can replace the whole unit.

I suspect 96-97 units will work in a 98-99 so a 96-99 owner can use the 96-97 units and save $20 each.
