Isn't This Interesting??

new 11/28/2003

I am a former ford engine tech for 2 dealers and now currently work in Ohio.
I never heard or saw anything about the camshaft issue while working at the dealer( left in 7-02) and know of 1 particular SHO with almost 200,000 miles on it.
While at the auction I noticed at least 3 SHO Taurus cars in the past year in the Tow Line Sale for repossessed cars
All had bad engines (One was missing the front valve cover) and low miles, 68,000 being the highest I believe.
These cars brought between $800 and $1,200 at public sale.
I then heard about the camshaft issue and am on the lookout for any more examples that pass through
The car I purchased on 11-26-03 for $1,100 from Ford Motor Credit has a failed transmission and 112,000 miles on the odometer.
The engine runs fine and the rest of the car is in pretty good condition.
I plan on keeping this car and will be inspecting it for previous camshaft repair when I have time this winter.
I just found this site while researching these cars before I purchased mine.
I had a 96 Taurus and loved it and wanted another.
This site is very informative and I appreciate all the info,
Thank You,
Jeff

Looks more and more that what was suspected is beginning to make sense. Thanks Jeff and Welcome.
