Dear V8SHO.com,

I just wanted to drop you a line and mention the celebration I had this past weekend (05-23-05). During a drive this weekend, my beloved White Lightening, aka 1998 SHO, rolled 200,000 miles. I have owned many performance automobiles in my life but this one beats anything I have ever seen. I may be jinxing myself by bragging on my baby but what makes this so incredible is that everything on my SHO is original, with the exception of the serpentine belt, tires and brake shoes. Everything else, down to the light bulbs and spark plugs is original. In the past year I have asked my mechanic if it has even needed a tune up. He checks it each time and tells me "No." While it's true that I change the oil every 5,000 miles, like clockwork and pay strict attention to all other servicing, there is no argument that this is just an amazing automobile. For anyone who doubts the integrity of American Craftsmanship, they should take a look at this car.

Best to All,
Michael Travis

Hello Larry ,

I check your site occasionally as I own a 96 SHO.

My 1996 SHO was bought new and as of today has 299,600 miles on original engine and orig. trans. I know a lot of SHO's have had cam failures so it write to inform. The oil was changed every 3000 (Motorcraft 5-30) and all 60k/100k service(s) done. Valve lash twice so far ; Plugs 3 times. Serviced 99% at Ford Dealership. No Mods have been done other than Ford TSB fixes...

Hi Larry ,

Well I accomplished my Goal : 300k on my 96 SHO.

Now if Ford would make a replacement , I thought the Marauder was close but they cancelled that and the 500 has no engine options...

FYI: My mustang mechanic has the only FHP speedo cert machine around and I have watched three Florida Highway Patrol Maruader's get speedo checks . Blew me away : 188 ; 192 and 202 which blew out the machine's brake.

Be advised unmarked Mercury Marauder's are deadly (silver ; black) and they have bling wheels and no FHP license plate. The State got 40 of them I think.

Really no S$@t : over 185 on the speedo cert machine...

Come on FORD where is the HO sedan ...

Randall
