Dear Larry, my name is John Weidenbenner and I am an owner of a V8 SHO that died from cam failure. I bought the car like this from a guy on Craigslist, hoping to fix it and drive it, but I guess my question to you is; Is there any parts available to rebuild the heads (I have the engine apart down to the cams and I can see silver rings, assuming it is the valve guides, laying on the valves. Some of the valves are bent as well.) What can I do about this and what info would you like on the car? Hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely, John.

I'm glad that your are willing to help me. Unfortunately I can't answer most of the questions, but I'll give you what I can.

5. I bought the vehicle 9/9/2008

The guy I bought if from did tell me that he was under acceleration going about 40mph on a county road not far from his house and he had to run the car WOT just to limp it home. The SHO sat in his garage for about 1 1/2 to 2 years, so my best guess on the date of malfunction on the car would be fall 2006 to spring of 2007. Also, he did say that his teenage son was driving it for a couple months before the cam failure.

If there is anymore info you would like let me know, and thanks for your help.

Sincerely,
 John Weidenbenner.
