Larry,
No, I haven't yet had my cams welded, but I want to. Only problem is that my
tranny is not strong right now, so I don't feel comfortable driving the 500+
miles to UT or CA. I'd love to find someone in the Boise, ID, area to do this,
but I've just started looking.
As an aside, I must admit that although I've known the SHO was a special car, I
was getting frustrated with it and had been (unsuccessfully) trying to sell it.
My frustration was just that several things were breaking and I couldn't find
any good manuals or sources of help.
Then on Friday, while searching for a repair manual for it, I discovered
V8SHO.com. I couldn't believe it! All the info I needed AND wanted was right
there.
After reading through the site for several hours late Friday night and early
Saturday morning, I suddenly realized that the car I had been looking for (fun
to drive, easy to fix, room for 4 adults, economical, etc.) had been sitting in
my driveway for three years (it was my wife's daily driver until last May).
Worst of all, I had neglected it by not changing the fluids regularly (except
for the oil, which I did change regularly).
So now I'm going to try and take care of it--weld the cams, change ALL the
fluids, etc. Hopefully, it will continue to provide many years of useful and fun
service. But in the event it should fail beyond reasonable repair, I've already
determined to go find another one.
So 'Thank you' to you and everyone else who contributes to this site.
Sincerely,
Curtis Spears

The real thanks goes to all the people who have contributed their experiences over the years to the site. Without them, V8SHO.COM would be nothing. We are a wholly independent bunch that will surprise you with the generosity that has been often times displayed with no possible personal gain at stake. Just a bunch of people who like this car, are saddened by it's one fatal flaw, and are determined to keep them running just as long as we can. Thank you Curtis.
