Burned Rear Main Wiring Harness

new 5/13/03

Tim,

I just wanted to send you a picture of the rear main wiring harness from the last car that I welded the cams on. It is by far the worst heat problem that I have seen and really kind of shocked me. I had to peel the burnt area of the wires from the valve cover. I also included a picture of the area after the wires were repaired and rewrapped in high temp wire loom.

Thanks and keep up the good work,
Brad Swinford

This is a know issue, when Kirk cleaned my butterflies he also repaired and protected my Rear Main Wiring Harness. See also Cam Weld To-Do List  One might think Ford Motor Company capable of producing a product free from spontaneous self cam destruction and spontaneous under hood fire. The photos you show are typical of a V8SHO with 75,000 or more miles.

I forget, What did they say was "Job 1"?

It is also worth remembering that Ford has no maintenance interval for power steering fluid whish has a life of 25,000 miles or 2 years. See Power Steering Flush Reminder.
