I just wanted to let you all know that Rik Evans and I were able to reach a
resolution on my cam failure. In case you all wonder what had happened, here's
the story:
I had my cams welded in 2002 by Rik. My car was the second car he had welded,
the first being Ryan Dudek's. At the time there was not a generally agreed upon
method for welding to my knowledge. Flash forward 3 years, and I have a cam
failure. Since I had the cams welded I did not suspect a failure and brought the
car to PA to have it repaired. Well, it turns out that the cams did fail, and
the welds were insufficient. Pictures were posted to the site and this list and
Rik was subject to lots of scrutiny. Rik felt that he was unfairly called out
and that he should have had first crack at repairing the car and I felt wronged
because my car was a lawn ornament. After airing of grievances between Rik and
myself, some of them on list, we were able to get past the "I'm pissed at you"
stage and were able to hammer out an agreement.
I find people who are willing to stand behind their customers rare in this day.
Rik did an admirable thing by standing behind his work and working out a
solution with me. I've seen his more recent work on other SHOs and there is a
definite difference in the quality of the welds (you can see them on his site
http://www.predator-racing.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=102. It's worth
mentioning that if I still lived in the Detroit area, that I would not hesitate
to have Rik work on my SHO.

Hats off to both of you for working out the issue and settling it like adults.
That doesn't happen a lot these days.
Sounds like Rik and Predator Racing deserve a second look by anyone in the
Detroit area.

There was little doubt in my mind when it occurred that it would be resolved
amicably for all parties concerned. Rik did a tough thing without benefit of at
least inspection, he none the less stood by his work and his word. Rare air
these days.
Both of you are to be congratulated.

To all SHO members,
I first have to thank Seth for giving me a chance to right a wrong, even though
not intended. And also his thoughtful words. Reserve Tequila still here waiting
with a hand shake when you have the time Seth.
Now, what he wrote is a very good break down of what transpired. He is the only
problem I have ever known of, and yes it hit my ego. It is my goal to be as
detailed on my work as I can. I have a creed/motto that I use daily. You are
only as good as your last job, not the one you think is your best. Also, you are
only as good as your word. Live by that, and you should always have the right to
hold your head high.
Enough boring talk, WHERE WERE ALL THE SHO"S AT WOODWARD THIS YEAR???!!!

I remember when Ford told Vadim "off the record" that exactly 13 bad cams were
made and no more than 13 cars would ever suffer cam failure.
This has been a learning experience for all including FMC.
I am so pleased this got worked out.

Yes, it is nice to see a pleasant experience detailed for once on this list,
instead of bitching and moaning. I don't think anyone thought you purposely did
it badly, just inexperience.
Good luck Seth! Bring it to Seattle now!
