Thanks for all how gave feedback to my previous post. One question wasn't
answered.
Are there markings on the sprocket or shaft to show alignment? Is someone
purchased a new shaft and sprocket, how would they know how to assemble them?
Thanks in advance.

Kirk says there are markings, but it must be my vision cause I could never
locate them myself, then again I didn't look that hard either. By the way, you
can't by the slave sprocket and shaft separate from Ford. The primary is lined
up with a pin and the slave cam has the same pin for timing and assembly
purposes.

There are dimples on the outside of the sprockets.

Here you go.. here are the front marks and the secondary sprockets have the same
dimple other them. All you need to do would be line them up if one slipped.

Well thank you. I have always used the sprocket pins themselves, never
previously observed the dimple. Just out of curiousity, how does that tool help
in the alignment (and not the wrench)? I don't see any obvious marks on it and
it doesn't look like it extends over to the primary sprocket at all, or is it
just the angle of the shot?

Nope, it was just in the Pictures, that was a double cam fail motor both front
and rear cam went! And I was assembling it yesterday for one of the guys that
helps me out.

Once again, thanks to all who have helped me with these cam questions. Kirk, the
pics are great and very informative. I'll be sending all your feedback to the
Nor Cal boys who are welding the cams up in Sacramento.

The alignment tool locks the slave cam in position. The dimple on the slave
sprocket is matched to a colored link, one of two, on the slave chain. The other
colored link is matched to the dimple on the slave sprocket on the master cam.
The crank must be at TDC while installing and aligning the cams.

My thanks to all who helped answer Kirk Radovcich's questions. Heck, even Carter learned something today. Thanks also to Kirk Doucette for the great pictures.
