Hi my name is Chris I am 22 I am the owner of a Black 97 SHO I have had for almost 2 years. It is my daily driver. I have just over 111000 miles on the car. Until just recently it had been running fine. I was on my way home from out of town and the car started to lag like it had just lost power or something and sounded like it was running on half an engine. I pulled off the highway and the car died. I took it to the local ford dealer and they are not sure what is wrong but they did confirm that it is running on only half an engine the back pistons are not moving. They are telling me that to pinpoint the problem the have to pull the head and timing cover for the back part of the motor and take a look. They have also told me that its going to take 19hrs of labor, so I'm looking at roughly 1300 dollars just to find out what the problem is. After reading your article about the failing cams I was wondering if this sounded like that may be what happened. Any input would be great. If you could let me know ASAP I would really appreciate it, I am just not sure what to do at this point.
