You are bidding on a 1997
Ford Taurus SHO, with the 3.4 liter DOHC
32valve engine. The vehicle's body
and interior are in excellent
shape, with only minor wear on drivers
seat and a few dings on body. No
dents or major repairs. This car
has got everything, CD changer in truck,
JBL Speakers, and all of the options for
SHO's including chrome wheels. The
transmission was rebuilt less than a
year ago.
Now for the bad news. The
engine has the typical problem with
these SHO engines. The rear bank
camshaft has broken the timing chain.
The owner, a friend I'm selling for,
didn't want to take the chance on having
really major expense to repair, so he
bought a BMW. I think it was
probably a lot more than repairs, but I
think it was his justification for
buying a new car.
The car was taken to a shop to
inspect and they got as far as taking
the rear heads covers off to see that
the chain was broken. All of the
parts are in the trunk in bags and boxes
all labled. I am not sure if there
is any internal damage beyond the
camshafts, valves, but it is possible.
This is an outstanding car and would
be great for someone that knows how to
repair and do the labor. The parts are
readily available, because this is very
common. Normal fix is to weld cam
gears to the cams. But if not
repairing the parts value in the car
with transmission, wheels, and accessory
parts is well worth the bidding.
This is a no reserve sale. Buyer
is responsible for all shipping expenses
and arrangements for pick up.
