New 4/8/05
I just pulled the valve covers on a '97 TR, Vin 1FALP54N2VA262203 with 110,951 mi. The owner is 75 and decided to keep the car following the loss of his youngest son who had pick the car up as a repo. Our paths crossed because I had made the local Ford dealership aware of the cam issue and one of the service techs passed my name to the fellow. I found the front exhaust cam gear hard up against the nut. That is approximately 1/16" of lateral movement. Looking into the now larger gap near the thrust collar, I can see the bright lines where the friction contact is established. They appear clean and parallel. No apparent rotational position change. Any simple, proven technique for repositioning the gear prior to weld?
