What does this gem module do? I'm having some electrical problems with my 98
SHO! I see this is a recall item. Will a ford dealer honor this recall??
Thank you,
Sandra

I don't know much about it but I think it controls stuff like the power windows
and stuff. The GEM allows you to roll down the windows after you have shut the
car off for up to something like 30 seconds or 2 minutes provided you don't open
a door. This logic is one of many things that the GEM controls. There's a bunch
more stuff that it does but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
I'll look into it a little more.
It's the Generic Electronic Module. It's behind the fuse panel under the dash on
the driver's side. See the attached picture for a diagram of the location.

The GEM module controls the windows, exterior lights, interior lights,
sunroof, heated mirrors, rear window defogger, just about anything that pulls
current that you control from inside the car.
It is not hard to replace. Pulled mine in like 20 minutes.
