George Stephenson - Cam Failure #241

new 4/3/03

I purchased a 1998 Ford Taurus V8SHO 05/29/02 and 01/20/03 I heard a ticking noise in the valve cover area, I taken it in to Central Ford in Ahoskie, N.C., and discovered the CAM SPROCKET FAILURE, the mechanic Mig. Weld the sprockets. after 1400 miles it was back in the shop this time a CHIPPED CAM GEAR, the mechanic Weld the Collar I drove home 30 miles the noise started again, the only sure fix is to replace the CAM SHAFT or the ENGINE witch will cost between $3,000.00 to $13,000.00, I believe Ford Motor Co. concealed a defect with the car’s high-performance V8 Engine that causes extensive engine damage and expensive repairs, I would like Ford motor co. to have a Recall or help with the repair, I filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office of N.C. and with NHTSA I called Ford public relation for help they told me keep a record of my repair bills and I would be reimbursed if there is a recall.
