New 3/14/07
I had a cam failure about 1 month after buying the car. It had a cadent tap when I bought it used. The dealership (yes, an actual Ford dealership) told me that it was nothing to worry about, and it was just a worn cam chain tightener. After my engine "died", I discovered v8sho.com. I have a new engine from a 96 now. I rarely drive it, as I just discovered someone in South Dakota that might weld my cams, and don't want it to fail before I get it done.
By the way, if you use a 96 engine in a 97, be sure to swap the wiring harness and sensors, as they are not the same.
If you need any pictures of my original engine, or any parts, let me know.
Thanks,
Matt Wilgers
