Oil Pressure as a function of RPM with 5W-30 Mobil1

4/11/04, thanks to Mark Hlady & Bob Fijal

After 5,000 rpm’s in second the needle just stuck to 55 psi. Mark Hlady had gotten higher readings than I did, reaching 60 psi at 4200. It takes quite a while for the oil to heat up fully, even though the temperature gage is at its normal operating temperature. You can tell this while cruising at 70 mph, the pressure will be at 60-65 psi and slowly drop to 35 psi. It took, in distance, about 15 miles before the oil was at 35. Since Mark got higher readings than I did at the same rpm’s and his is a 99 and mine is a 97, we need Scott Waters to give us some readings from his 96 once he reconnects his gage back up. We can then average them together so everyone will know what to expect in terms of pressure from their cars. My AWA's F-150 pickup comes with an oil pressure gage, why not a SHO?
