About 25k ago I replaced my stock 9007 headlight bulbs with PIAA Superwhite bulbs. One can not just put in high amperage bulbs because the multifunction switch can not handle the high amperage. (an alternative is to add the complexity of relays)
I think I paid less then $70 for the super whites, they now cost almost $80. I liked them, first morning I drove after I put them in it was rain with fog and the PIAA were so good they were a life saver next to the OE bulbs
During the last 25K I think the PIAA bulbs lost some of their output and last week I lost my low beam on one side. PIAA now sells a new bulb called the X-Treme with a higher output rating. Now all the bulbs pull the same amps at the identical level of volts so they are all identical watts. But in order to give a indication of greater lumens PIAA lists a different "watts" rating as an equivalence.
The X-Treme bulbs also give off a whiter light.

Prices are for 2 bulb pack. Note high beam out put is unchanged but low beam is 20% brighter. For $5 bucks more a pair I went with the X-treme bulbs.

I hoped to have the bulbs for this weekend, I can't report how they work yet.
