Panther Plus Brake Pad Promotion

new 4/26/02

I got the last sets of front Street F pads from Carbotech, (2 front, 1 rear). I called and spoke to Andy and mentioned the up and coming track day at the SHO Convention and Carbotech was bumbed.

They recommend Panther Plus now which is a streetable racing pad compared to Street F which is a raceable street pad.

List price for a set of Panther Plus is $183, between now and the convention they will sell them for $129 to anyone with a SHO who mentions the Convention, V8SHO or SHOClub.

The down side of Panther plus is they require some permatex anti squeal or squeal pads or they may make more noise than Street F pads. Dust is OK, like any race pad they work and wear best when kept warm.

I think this is what Kirk is running and If I remember correctly he likes them.

You can still get Street F rear pads. Info on pad compounds below.

It is a lot of money for brake pads, but if you need them, they are cheaper then fenders or guard rails.

CARBOTECH PANTHER PLUS
A high torque brake compound delivering reliable and consistent performance over a very wide operating temperature range (150F to 1250F). Advanced compound matrix provides an excellent initial "bite", high coefficient of friction (0.54-0.56), and very progressive brake modulation and release characteristics. Extremely high fade resistance, very rotor friendly, excellent cold stopping power, and low noise when hot or cold. Primarily designed for track use, but can also be used with good results on the street.

CARBOTECH SUPER STREET-F (7266)
Super Street-F is a high-performance compound which far exceeds the capabilities of OEM brake pads. Advanced compound formulation of the Super Street-F exhibits medium/high torque (coefficient of friction of 0.42), excellent brake modulation, low noise levels during street driving, and is very rotor friendly. The Super Street-F compound can be used on all high-performance street applications, and will also perform very well for light track use such as time trials and lapping days events. Optimal recommend operating temperature range is 75F to 800F.
