OK...I read Don's email yesterday and it didn't hit me until late last night
when I was trying to go to sleep. And it hit me hard. I finally got so mad today
that I called again today to see what they would say. I started out by reciting
all the Fords I have bought new:
1. 1972 Ford Torino Sport
2. 1974 Ford Mustang II Mach 1
3. 1976 Ford Mustang II Cobra II V-8
4. 1977 Thunderbird
5. 1979 Ford Mustang Ghia V-8
6. 1979 Ford Mustang Indy Pace Car
7. 1981 Ford Escort Station Wagon
8. 1982 Ford EXP
9. 1984 Ford Escort GT
10. 1984 Ford Tempo
11. 1986 Ford Escort GT
12. 1987 Ford Taurus GL
13. 1990 Ford Probe GT
14. 1990 Ford Taurus GL
15. 1992 Ford Explorer XLT
16. 1994 Ford Taurus SHO
17. 1996 Ford Explorer XLT
18. 1997 Ford Taurus SHO
19. 1998 Ford Explorer XLT
20. 2000 Ford Explorer XLT
21. 2002 Ford Explorer XLT
$320,000 worth of vehicles in 30 years or roughly $10,000 per year. The lady on
the other end was astounded, but told me even with all of that, there was no
report of camshaft failures in Taurus automobiles. AND, that my extended
warranty was good until 2004, so I had "peace of mind."
I, as I stated before was polite. "Since this is the first time you have
contacted us," she said, "I'll make sure your concern is
documented." Huh? No one is minding the ship, IMHO. Today, I made a
decision to buy from another car maker for the first time in my life. I looked
at Acuras, Nissans, and Audis. I love this car and will keep it until the
extended warranty runs out. Then I am on my own, and unless Ford shows some
responsibility, I will no longer be a Ford family member. And I hope they are
monitoring this board and see this. Bucko, get your own cams and make things
right or else. I've spent far too much money being loyal. You are now on your
own!
