Postcards From The Edge - SHOklahoma 2001 - Monday

Some of the folks getting together in Missouri this Sunday night.

I just got back from the SHO stop-over in Warrensburg Missouri.  For those of you that are interested here are the people and the cars shown in Bob's excellent photos.

Photo 1:
People-  Mike Holhut walking away from his car towards the garage in the front of the picture. Kirk Doucette is standing in the middle looking like a dumb-ass :-). Mark Hlady is in the dark blue looking back at the house.

Cars-  Shannon Burton's pace SHO is on the right front, with most of the vinyl gone from it.  It still sounds like a NASCAR SHO though. Mike Holhut's is the car with the vinyl on it.  He spent most of the night putting more stickers.  Mark Hlady's car is in front of Mike's, Bob Fijal's is in the garage, he's hiding his chrome V8 emblems from all of you..  Of course Kirk's car is the only refrigerator there.  Kirk put a tall CB antenna on his car that you can't see in this picture.  I dubbed him the white lab rat, since he has such a large tail :-0).  Paul Nimz's car is the red one with the hood up.  You cannot even count the ways he has tricked up this car.  Impressive.

Photo 2:
People- Once again Mike Holhut is fussing over his car on the left.  His wife was a blast.  Paul Nimz is in the blue in the middle.  Scott MacIntosh's wife is right behind him.  Kirk is on the right.  Paul Nimzs' red car shows his painted calipers, they are Allis Chalmers orange, or was that Case orange??

The two red cars in the background are mine and Scott MacIntosh's.

Kenny was parked down the street, he got a new intake courtesy (I believe) of Paul Nimz (SHO Shop cone kit).  Mark got his brakes changed out on the front, but we found out (thanks to Bob) that the pads were SLO pads, so Bob donated a set of pads to Mark.  Kirk has a good idea on a hood design that helps evacuate the heat from this engine.

It was a fun time getting together with other SHO brothers (Kirk says 'car' in a funny way).  I only wish I could get to Tulsa with them.  Bob was a wonderful host, and he fed us all.  We did have to turn off Mark Hlady's subwoofer to keep the neighbors happy :=)

Mike Holhut and Mark Hlady change front pads on Mark's 99.   Took about 15 minutes.

Kirk's Intake.jpg (136619 bytes)

This the intake Kirk put on his car.   The picture doesn't do it justice. Sorry for the large file, Mark took the picture

I'll have to look again, but my appearance cover and my hood liner rub at just about the spot he put those scoops.

I really like the look.  I guess I might put in the four or five other mods I have bought before I copy that one, though.

Is it my motor mounts, or does everyone's engine rub the hood liner in that spot. (driver's front corner of appearance cover???)  I do have some hellacious speed bumps/humps near my house, and I forgot about them once.  It could be from that one time...

Kirk is an innovative guy.  I like it.. although I'm not sure about the slash mark things.. but all in all it's cool.  And the first thing I noticed was the bugs lol.. I probably get that many on mine but then again I have red and it doesn't SHOw as much.. anyhow.. good thinking Kirk.
