It's a test of the new EBC Red Ceramic pads on a Rally car, plus the main post has some interesting comments on the EBC company and pads in general. Don't know if these are available in SHO sizes yet, but I suspect they will be eventually

I ran the ceramic Reds on my car at the recent convention and Thunder Hill. I could not have been more pleased. Yes they will dust up, but who cares when you can go deep, stop on a dime and give 11 cents change. Worth every penny, IMHO. I also was running slotted rotors and didnt notice any surface wear when SW9 finally made it home on the trailer. Wish the motor worked as well as the EBC's :{

EBC's catalog
http://www.ebcbrakes.com/Assets/2004_5USAautocat.pdf doesn't show that
Redstuff is available for the SHO, however, if you look further down, it lists
the 598 size for a Thunderbird. The Redstuff 598 part # is DP31168C. This would
work on all '96-'99 SHO's and any earlier SHO with the '96 upgrade.
They don't show any rear pads in Redstuff, only Greenstuff.
I hate my Greenstuff pads with a passion! Loudest pads I have ever had. Will not
quiet down! I have 14,000 miles on them. Rotors are warped. This is on my Jetta.
I wonder if I got the old formulation? I bought them this year.

If these are the same as the regular EBC RedStuff pads (my corporate firewall won't let me access NASIOC), they have been available for the front fitment at TireRack.com for quite a while now... but they don't mention "ceramic". (Aside - They just started selling the rear fitment of Hawk HPS pads too.)
I just read an article that talked about some recent changes at EBC. http://www.subiegalracing.com/sgracing/news/rally%20reports/ebc_redstuff_ceramic_review.htm OR http://makeashorterlink.com/?H16854229
Also the EBC website (http://www.ebcbrakes.com/Assets/redceramicpad.jpg) shows some changes/re-formulations in a few of its products.
I got my GreenStuff pads in February, and they are quiet

Sounds like you have the "old formula" Greenstuff pads. If you read farther
down through that thread, there is also a discussion of the new Greenstuff. They
also sound good for pure street use.
It appears that it might not be true rotor warp, but pad material deposits on
the rotor.

Hmmm... I'll write EBC and see if they will 'comp' me a new set. I bought the
pads early this year or late last year.

I just realized, the Redstuff Ceramic isn't available for the SHO. Never
mind! It would have a 'C' suffix on the part #.

What are you talking about? Here's the piece of your post from a few minutes ago that has the Gen 3 SHO 598 size for Redstuff: EBC's catalog http://www.ebcbrakes.com/Assets/2004_5USAautocat.pdf doesn't show that Redstuff is available for the SHO, however, if you look further down, it lists the 598 size for a Thunderbird. The Redstuff 598 part # is DP31168C. This would work on all '96-'99 SHO's and any earlier SHO with the '96 upgrade.
They don't show any rear pads in Redstuff, only Greenstuff.

OK. Their catalog is inconsistent. On one page, it shows the 'C' suffix, on another, where it lists the part #'s by 'size', the column for Redstuff non-ceramic is filled in and the column for the Redstuff ceramic isn't.
I quit...... ;-) I guess I'll stick to Performance Friction!
