SATT'S Locktite Experience in Canada

new 1/26/2004

Hi "SHO" Folks,

I bought this silver '98 SHO from a sales person who had clocked in around 170,000(highway) Km's but nevertheless the car was in a immaculate condition and everything worked including the CD.

Despite reading the various Cam mishaps happening to so many SHO owners, I conferred with some friends including John Hamilton of Peterborough who encouraged me to go ahead with acquiring an SHO. Boy am I glad I made the decision and today after 11 months and clocking 30000Km's more the car is humming like new.

After lot of deliberations I decided to get the "Loctite Procedure" done on my Cams since my car was long due for the mandatory 160000Km's Tune-up. I was encouraged reading Phil Silano's experience regarding the "Loctite Procedure", and after a lot of searching I finally zeroed into Whiteoak Ford dealership at Mississauga to get my job done. Here there is a Mechanic-Frank and the Tech.Advisor John Bettio both of whom had been trained at FORD-Dearborn for doing this job. It cost me a total of CAD$.1800 to get everything fixed which included changing all Fluids, replacing 8 sparkplugs, PCV,O-rings, couple of gaskets, fuel filter, Loctite Procedure, one spark plug coil, etc. Though the attitude of the FORD dealership was quite good but lets see how long this lasts.

My SHO now runs more smoothly and the engine is more responsive and I have now peace of mind. I would like to share my experience hence am enclosing the 7 photos taken during the Loctite procedure being done by Ford Technician.

Though I would have liked to have the Cam-Weld's done but as there was no support North of the border (in Canada) and some proposed Camfests scheduled to have been organized here did not happen, I took my chances and went ahead with getting my Cams and Sprockets Loctited.

Thanks a lot to your Site for all the information and to Phil Silano.

Regards,
SATT

I think it's important that we realize that there has already been a cam failure from loctited cams. Ford seems to think this work. We shall see.
