I also negotiated a rate with a budget hotel owned by the same people on the same property sharing the parking lot. You can have your choice of Marriott or LaQuinta, and use the facilities of the Marriott wherever you stay.

so get your room reservations NOW, even if there is only a slight chance you will go.

We are racing at Indianapolis Raceway Park, and having a track lapping day at Putnam Park road course. These are two famous and fun tracks.

And Indy is a GREAT city to be in, with lots of racing history and plenty of fun things for everyone including spouses and kids.

So get your hotel rooms and send in your event registrations.

EVENTS PLANNED:

Sunday Evening: Pre-Convention dinner with the Mallinsons.  We have picked out a fun place that is an easy drive from the hotel.

Monday: Check-in, possible plant tour, tours of Indianapolis and an evening reception/orientation, at the hotel.
This day, and about anytime during the week, you can make a reservation with the Kenny Brown Chassis Dyno to get your car dyno tested.

Tuesday: Annual Car SHOw at the hotel followed by a tech session and drivers meeting for Putnam drivers.  In the Afternoon may do the rally tour mentioned on Friday below, or we will try to set up a plant tour.  The Go-Kart event we had hoped to do is just too expensive, but you can go on your own to one of three area tracks at a rate of from $10 to $20 per ride.
At night we will go to another interesting restaurant for a fun night out.  Location TBA

Wednesday:

Track Day at Putnam Park Road Course.  Get almost an hour of track time in your own car.  Classes include the highly successful Novice class, Touring, Intermediate and Advanced.  A fun 1.8 mile course that is a favorite test track of pro drivers in all classes of racing.  Dinner that night on the way home will be filling and fun.  Location TBA.

NOTE: there are two sets of forms you should print out.  LINKS are above in the REGISTRATION Form area.  Print out and MAIL IN with your registration form, the Driver/Car information forms.

Then print out and read/keep the track information and rules along with the tech forms for you to fill out before coming to the convention.  Bring these forms WITH YOU to the convention.

Thursday:

Drag Racing at Indianapolis Raceway Park.  IRP is THE Nationals track for the NHRA since the early 60's  Top quality 1/4 mile track with more history than any operating drag strip in the world.  Followed that evening by the banquet, awards and charity auction at the host hotel.

Friday: This has not been an official convention day in the past, if we don't do the rally tour on Tuesday, we would like to reprise the great rally route that we took during the 2000 convention.  All attendees will get the rally route book and we will go out as a group for those that stay around for a great drive through some of the most beautiful and fun roads you will ever see.  This was the 1999 BMW national convention rally, and you won't believe what is around each corner.  Lunch at beautiful Nashville IN, a fun tourist town with lots of shopping followed by the rest of the rally route.

Other Things To Do:

Indianapolis is a modern cosmopolitan city with professional sports teams, several museums and tourist attractions, wineries, and of course shops for most of the famous race teams in the country.  I hear there are a number of great micro-breweries and of course, there are many pubs/restaurants that are favorites of famous race drivers and teams.

We have made arrangements for people to get dyno sessions at the world famous Kenny Brown facility during the week.  You can call and make an appointment Monday through Friday to see how bad your ride really is!

Rockville Indiana is just about an hour away with more covered bridges than any other area in the country, maybe the world.  We did a tour of one of the bridge routes (four are available) and we recommend you take the time to do this oh-so-American and Mid-West activity.

Miscellaneous:

Like Die-Cast models?  One of the best selections anywhere is in a shop we will guide you to in Indy.  The surrounding area has many wonderful state parks, and there are some very good wineries also.
