new 8/26/03

Someone once told me to get one of those little pine tree deodorizers... I must have misunderstood...

Ouch. You'll be finding little pieces of glass for years now...

Wait till you price that back window. That will be the real ouch. I won't even tell you the ballpark figure, because it is sickening.

Thoughts on parking under a tree.

Thinking along the lines of Darrel Royal, former Texas Longhorns coach who thought a lot more could go wrong passing than running, I’m thinking a lot more wrong happens parking under a tree than not.

Good? Shade

Bad? Leaves/needles, sap, pollen, bird ahem and now acts of God

I think I’ll park in the garage, or get a window shade.

Sorry for your new air conditioning method.

Additional thoughts on parking under a tree:

80 year old neighborhood, 80 year old house.
1 car garage for every 3 houses.
On-street parking or in-yard parking only options if you have no garage.
80 year old neighborhoods have 80 year old trees...
The entire BLOCK is shaded.
Only other option is to not have a car.
Storms in the last 5 weeks are slowly reducing the amount of shade on the block.
I've been at work for all 3 storms, so I still have my car.
Unless people want to start a fundraiser to put an attached garage on my house?
Not sure the house would sell afterwards if I had only 200-300 sq ft backyard left.

Thanks to everyone who responded both on and off list. No one was injured during this mishap.. the car was parked in my driveway at the time.
