Snow Tires

11/25/2006

I'm looking for a set of winter tires for my 97 SHO. I currently running 225/50/16's (Blizzak MZ-01) on it for the winter. I'm finding a lot of snow tires on EBAY for 205/55/16's. Are these to skinny for the factory (chromies) rims ?? I know that 215's will work, but didn't want to bid on the 205's until I was sure that they would fit properly. I know skinny is better when it comes to snow tires, but how skinny is too much.....

Those of you that use strictly snows in the winter, what size do you use ???

Thanks,

You could use a 205 but with a 55 profile the load handling rating is
going to be too low for the SHO.

I've used 215/55 and 225/55 Michelins on stock rims.

I'm running the stock size 225/55/16s, but the appropriate size should be the SLO size (215/60/16s) for the winter tires. That size is perfect for the chromes.
