Hello Larry,
Just wanted to let you know about another possible cam failure. My wife
currently drives a black 97. We had the cams welded about six months ago with no
problems. My son in law also has a 97 TR SHO and he too has had his cams welded
about five months ago with no problems. I stumbled upon an ad for a silver 96
SHO at a local Chevrolet dealership. My wife contacted the salesman and he told
her the unit was in the service department getting serviced for the used car
lot. I am interested in the car so I contacted a good friend of mine who is an
auto broker. Since I am very limited for time I sent him to the dealership to
check out the condition. He called me shortly after and stated that the car is
extremely nice with 91k. He said the service department was checking out a
ticking noise from the rear cylinder head area. I told him I would still be
interested in the car for about $500. I then explained to him what I suspect it
is and printed some literature from your web site as proof. He returned to the
dealership, handed them the literature and he said their eyes popped out of
their heads. The vehicle info is as follows. 1996 SHO, Silver, 91k, good
maintenance records. Vin # 1FALP54N0TA313520. If I can get it for the right
price I may still consider buying it. I will keep you posted. In the meantime
you can view the ad www.traderonline.com
. Punch in 1996 to 1999 Taurus $3000 to $7000 price range. You will see it at
Trapp Cadillac Chevrolet Inc.
Thanks
