Had the use of an NGS a few days ago, I went thru all the tests and got a code C1928 - a short in the VAPSII wiring. Googled the site but couldn't find any info on VAPSII. Can anyone help, please?

DTC C1928:
VAPS SOLENOID ACTUATOR RETURN CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
C1928-1
ELIMINATE OPEN CIRCUIT
- Turn engine off.
- Disconnect C223 connector from GEM.
- Measure resistance between C223 , circuit 153 (P/Y) and C223 , circuit
86 (GY/O) on harness connector.
Is resistance
less than 20 ohms?
Yes |
No |
GO to C1928-2
. |
GO to DTC C1898 to repair open VAPS circuit. |
C1928-2
TEST CIRCUIT 153 (P/Y) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect VAPS actuator from harness.
- Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between C223 , Circuit 153 (P/Y) and
known ground.
Is resistance
less than 10,000 ohms?
Yes |
No |

C1928-4
TEST VAPS ACTUATOR FOR SHORT TO GROUND
- Using ohmmeter and test pigtail, measure resistance between both VAPS
terminals and known ground.
Is resistance
less than 10,000 ohms?
Yes |
No |
REMOVE and REPLACE VAPS actuator. |
GO to C1928-5

C1928-5
WIGGLE TEST
- Reconnect GEM C223 connector.
- Reconnect VAPS actuator.
- Access GEM wiggle test on NGS. Follow directions displayed on NGS.
- Tap actuators, connector, and flex harness between GEM and VAPS
actuator.
Is C1898 or
C1899 retrieved during wiggle test?
Yes |
No |
REPAIR component being agitated when wiggle test DTC was
retrieved. RESTORE vehicle. REPEAT self-test. |
REPLACE GEM. |
