Hi Folks,
I have a '97 SHO. Well, with all the rain we've had in the Chicago area, I
went to turn on my wipers and only the right one works. The left one just
moves a fraction. Needless to say, I turned the wiper off.
Is this an easy fix or am I going to need to take it in to the shop?
Can any mechanic fix it sense I don't trust the people at my Ford
dealership?
I'm guessing it's one motor that is linked by (gear/belt/rods) that operates
both wipers.
I would appreciate any feedback on this.
Thanks,
Dennis

Yes it is one motor connecting the two rods. The wiper motor isn't that
difficult to take out, It is all on the drivers side cowl. Take the arms
off and the 4 bolts that fasten the wiper contraption down and the thing
will come out in one piece. You should be able to reconnect the wire
harness and turn them on to see what the problems is. At any rate if you
cannot fix it then you can replace it. No sense paying someone else.

Thanks Paul. As I live in the Western Suburbs of Chicago and have been going through this for the last four days, I'm reminded of the very old Bill Cosby line "Noah, how long can you tread water??"
