What do you think?
Skye
hey Skye, great job it looks good.
I am getting ready to do mine as well, and might try my hand at painting the 32 v letters the same as the SHO ltrs. but I am not a professional and if it ends up being sloppy in the least I will be happy to do it like you have it
Chris
Beautiful. You did this yourself? - Michael Hurd
In the words of paris hilton, thats hot. you should paint the 32 valve lettering red as well to bring them out. kinda like i did with mine - Ben
or maybe like this??
Bill T.
Tried my hand at Blue w/black letters a couple years ago. I wonder whatever happened to that car....
Looks great Skye. -- Eric Lehmann
Thanks for the compliments everyone. Unfortunately, I tried to wet sand the letters a bit and messed up the finish on them.
I've taped off the red letters again, and am contemplating taping off the V8 letters as well... we'll see...
Skye
What sort of paint is everyone using? What sort of process?
I'm envious. You've all done such great work.
JMP
I'm using Krylon Fusion. I've tried Duplicolor on other things, though.
Skye
i painted mine red with toreador red 32 valve numbers/letters and it turned out great, i also put red conduit on my wiring... turned out nicely

Ok guys... A or B? I'm torn between the two.
Skye
Dang, that looks almost familiar...why would somebody paint their motor
yellow though?
Carter Fuji
Two votes for B so far. Keep 'em coming. Results will be in tomorrow.
Mine was a 7 coat base of Duplicolor Daytona Yellow Ceramic High temp paint then overcoated with 4 coats of Dupliclor Metalcast Yellow (which apparently is no longer available). The inset paint is Rustoleum oil base and the Yamaha is a custom die cut 2 piece unit made from vinyl.

I don't like either one. IMO, it would be a shame to paint it black like just about every other motor out there. Not trying to bust b_lls, just being honest. - Dan Carman
You really have to ask ?????
B, of course.
Rick Glass
B for sure
Don
B for sure...
Jason Fontaine
B. Looks good!
Seth
I like "B" but I tried 4 colours before I settled on the colour in the link. Silver, Pacific Green (Brutal) Glossy Black and Finally Charcoal Grey with High Heat Clear coat. I wanted the engine to be more of a looker when I popped the hood and the black just didn't do it as well as the Grey IMHO. I like how you painted the SHO on the metal plate in red. http://www.v8sho.com/SHO/ClaysDetailedEngine.htm

Here is My cover, I plan on spraying the surge tank and tubes. I think I over did it with the red though. - Thomas Nestor Jr.
Well, it looks like I'm being unique enough as it is by painting the SHO lettering. So far, it seems like everyone has left that part alone (except Carter). As Paul F. mentioned, I do like the understated look of A, and it was my original design.
Plus there's more room for error on the other letters... and more of a PITA taping it off.
Dan, I see where you're coming from, but I wasn't feeling the flashy, shiny colors jumping out of the engine bay. To me, emphasizing the SHO letters in red (matches my calipers) is enough to set it off. Plus, the snakes are still eye catchers.
Skye
You are right, the intake runners do make people gawk in disbelief. I still think a dark grey (anthracite or graphite) w/ metal flake would be better. Maybe Ebony Satin? :-)
Dan
Thought I'd whip this together in case anyone finds it useful. (Also posted at SHOforum.com)
